WHAT WE DO; SUPPORTING CONFIDENT COMMUNICATION

Supporting communication, connection, and confidence. Kinexus Care’s Speech Pathology services provide personalised, home-based support to help people communicate more effectively and live well.

Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs)

Assessment considers:

  • Understanding and use of language

  • Speech clarity and intelligibility

  • Social communication and interaction

  • Functional communication across home, school, and community settings

  • Feeding and mealtime skills, where relevant

Reports are aligned with NDIS requirements and focus on functional impact, current supports, and practical recommendations. They are designed to support goal development, therapy planning, and funding decisions, with clear, evidence-based justification.

Literacy & early learning skills

We support early literacy and learning skills that underpin reading, writing, and academic participation.

Intervention may focus on:

  • Phonological awareness

  • Early reading and writing skills

  • Comprehension and language for learning

Support is tailored to the child’s developmental level and learning environment.

Expressive & Receptive Language Development

We support children to develop their understanding and use of language across everyday situations.

Intervention may target:

  • Vocabulary and word learning

  • Grammar and sentence structure

  • Understanding instructions and concepts

  • Confidence communicating with others

Therapy is tailored to the child’s age, learning style, and communication needs, and is supported across home, school, and community environments.

Social Communication & Pragmatic Skills

We support children who experience challenges with social interaction and communication.

Intervention may focus on:

  • Turn-taking and conversation skills

  • Understanding emotions and social cues

  • Nonverbal communication

  • Play skills and peer interaction

Therapy supports social engagement, participation, and readiness for school and community life.

Alternative & Augmentative Communication (AAC)

We assess, trial, prescribe, and support the use of AAC for children who need alternative ways to communicate.

This may include:

  • PODD books

  • Core boards

  • Low- and high-tech speech-generating devices

We provide training for families, educators, and support teams, and prepare clear NDIS documentation to support device funding and ongoing use.

Feeding & Mealtime Support (Mealtime Management)

We support children who experience challenges with eating and mealtimes.

This may include:

  • Fussy or restricted eating

  • Sensory-based feeding challenges

  • Oral-motor difficulties

  • Stressful or challenging mealtimes

Intervention is practical and family-centred, with strategies that fit into everyday routines. Caregivers are involved at every step to support consistency and progress.
