Occupational Therapy

WHAT WE DO; ENHANCING EVERYDAY FUNCTION

At Kinexus Care, our Occupational Therapists support you to do the things that matter most. Through personalised, home-based therapy, we help reduce barriers, build independence, and improve everyday function — tailored to your goals and lifestyle.

Assistive Technology (AT) assessment & prescription

We assess, recommend, and prescribe assistive technology to support safety, independence, and participation in daily life.

This may include:

  • Mobility aids such as walkers and wheelchairs

  • Daily living equipment for kitchen, bathroom, and personal care

  • Minor and complex assistive technology requiring NDIS justification

Recommendations are based on functional need, environment, and long-term suitability. Where required, we provide supporting documentation and liaise with suppliers and support teams.

Home modifications (minor and complex)

We assess home environments and recommend modifications to improve safety, access, and independence.

This may include:

  • Grab rails and bathroom modifications

  • Ramps, step-free access, and access solutions

  • Complex structural modifications requiring specialist input

Our occupational therapists consider both current needs and future planning, and work collaboratively with builders, suppliers, and funding bodies where required.

Assistive equipment prescription

We prescribe equipment to support comfort, safety, and function, including:

  • Mobility aids

  • Seating, beds, and pressure care equipment

  • Manual handling devices

Equipment selection is guided by function, environment, and long-term needs.

Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs)

Our occupational therapists complete comprehensive functional capacity assessments to identify strengths, challenges, and support needs across daily activities.

Assessment considers:

  • Personal care and domestic tasks

  • Mobility and transfers

  • Cognitive and sensory processing

  • Environmental and equipment needs

Reports are clear, evidence-based, and aligned with NDIS requirements. They are designed to support goal development, funding decisions, and plan reviews, with practical recommendations that can be implemented.

Daily living skills & independence training

We support people to develop or maintain the skills needed for everyday life.

Intervention may focus on:

  • Personal care and self-management

  • Domestic tasks and routines

  • Community access and participation

Support is practical, goal-focused, and adapted to the person’s abilities, environment, and preferences.

Reablement & functional decline prevention

We work with older adults to maintain independence and engagement in meaningful daily activities.

Intervention focuses on:

  • Maintaining functional skills

  • Supporting safe routines

  • Reducing reliance on assistance where possible
